High availability replication allows two or more KernSafe storage servers to protect the same workload. If one node becomes unavailable, another node can continue serving the mirrored target with minimal interruption. Create a high availability replication application. Step 1. Open Replications and click Add to open the replication wizard.
Choose High Availability in the Application Type. Press the Next button to continue. Step 2. Select the source target.
Choose one target as the base target. Then press the Next button to continue.
Enter the partner server, port, and CHAP information if required, then click Discovery to list the targets on the remote iSCSI server. If the partner target requires CHAP authentication, provide the CHAP user name and secret before continuing. Then press the Next button to continue. Step 3. Configure synchronization settings.
In this window you can specify all synchronization parameters, including portal addresses and the work folder. The work path is used to save data temporarily when the partner server is unavailable. Both targets must be synchronized before they can be used in production. If the partner target is new and empty, or if the targets are already consistent, select No Sync. Otherwise, keep the synchronization mode set to Full Sync. Note: You can use multiple network interfaces for synchronization and heartbeat traffic to reduce the risk of split-brain. Configure the primary synchronization channel and, if required, additional alternate channels. These alternate channels can also act as heartbeat paths if the primary synchronization path fails. Note: All data on the mirror device will be destroyed after synchronization. Press Next button to continue. Step 4. Complete application creation.
Click Finish to complete application creation. Repeat these steps on the partner server. High availability replication must be configured on each participating server. After the application has been created on both nodes, you can monitor its status in the management interface. • Running: |
