Physical Disk Device KernSafe Storage Center

A physical disk device maps a local physical disk directly to an iSCSI target. This allows the initiator to perform low-level disk operations such as partitioning and file-system formatting against the exported disk. All I/O sent to the iSCSI target is passed through to the underlying physical disk.

Option: Persistent exclusive access on this device prevents the local server from accessing the disk after it has been assigned to the target. This is recommended when the exported storage will be used for read/write workloads.

Step 3. Finish Creating iSCSI Target

Enter the target name.

Select an authorization mode. If you need more information, see Authorization Mechanism.

Global Authorization: The target inherits CHAP and IP filter settings from the global configuration. If this option is cleared, the target uses its own authorization settings.

Concurrent Access: Allows multiple initiators to access the target with shared read/write semantics.

Report Readonly: Reports the target as read-only when the initiator does not have write permission.

Click Finish to complete device creation.
