A security image file device is similar to a standard image file target, but it assigns a separate image file to each authenticated user. Each user stores data in an isolated backing file, so one user cannot access another user’s virtual disk. Creating Security Image File Disk Device Follow the steps below to create a security image disk device: Step 1. Click New on the toolbar to open the Create iSCSI Target wizard.
Choose Hard Disk in the iSCSI device type group. Press the Next button to continue.
Choose Security Images in the iSCSI device type group. Press the Next button to continue. Step 2. Set the device parameters. Security image file disks are configured much like standard image file disks. The main difference is that you select a directory, and KernSafe Storage Center automatically creates a separate image file for each authorized user in that folder. Click Browse to choose the folder and set the device size.
There are several options to choose from:
Step 3. Finish creating the iSCSI target.
Enter the target name. Select an authorization mode. If you need more information, see Authorization Mechanism. Global Authorization: The target inherits CHAP and IP filter settings from the global configuration. If this option is cleared, the target uses its own authorization settings. Concurrent Access: Allows multiple initiators to access the target concurrently when the workload supports shared access. Report Readonly: Reports the target as read-only when the initiator does not have write permission. Click Finish to complete target creation. |
