Datacenter Advanced Target KernSafe Storage Center

Datacenter is an advanced distributed RAID feature. It allows you to build a RAID5-style target from devices located on different servers, improving resilience when one server becomes unavailable.

Creating a Datacenter

Follow the steps below to create a Datacenter:

Step 1. Open Advanced Targets and click Add to open the Create Advanced Target wizard.

Choose Datacenter in the Configuration Type window.
Press the Next button to continue.

Step 2. Add the member targets to the Datacenter target.

Click Add to configure each member target.

Enter the host name or IP address of the server and click Discovery to find the target you want to use.
Click Add to include it, and then add the remaining targets in the same way.

Note: As with standard RAID5, a Datacenter target requires at least three member devices.

Step 3. Finish creating the iSCSI target.

Enter the target name.

Select an authorization mode. If you need more information, see Authorization Mechanism.
Press the Next button to continue.

Global Authorization: The target inherits CHAP and IP filter settings from the global configuration. If this option is cleared, the target uses its own authorization settings.

Concurrent Access: Allows multiple initiators to access the target concurrently when the workload supports shared access.

Report Readonly: Reports the target as read-only when the initiator does not have write permission.

Click Finish to complete target creation.
