A virtual CD/DVD-RW burner is a software-created optical device in KernSafe iSCSI SAN. It lets clients burn files directly to an ISO image. After the device is connected to a Windows computer, it appears as a CD/DVD recorder and can be used by standard burning software or the built-in Windows burning wizard. Creating a Virtual CD/DVD-RW Burner Follow the steps below to create a virtual burner device. Step 1. Select Service-> Create Target from the Storage pop-up menu in the main interface of KernSafe iSCSI SAN Management Console.
Choose Optical Device in the iSCSI Device Type group. Click Next to continue.
Choose Virtual Recordable Optical Drive in the iSCSI Medium Type group. Click Next to continue. Step 2. Select the drive type.
You can choose either Standalone or Auto-loader. Standalone mounts a single empty virtual disc and keeps it mounted after the burn process completes. Auto-loader automatically mounts a new empty virtual disc after each burn. This is useful when you need to create multiple ISO images. Click Next to continue. Step 3. Configure the CD/DVD-RW device.
Choose whether to create a new file or use an existing one. Select the Medium Type and specify the Maximum Capacity. Select the folder where the image files will be stored. To conserve free space, ISO files are created as dynamically expanding files, so their size depends on the content that is written. Click Next to continue. Step 4. Set the authorization mode.
Select an authorization mode. If you need more information, see Authorization Mechanism. Click Next to continue. Step 5. Enter the target name.
Click Finish to complete iSCSI target creation. | |
